It's Date Night

Dave and I are off to see Larry the Cable Guy tonight at the BOK Center in Tulsa. Can't wait!!!!

But first, he has to take me to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, you got it, Red Lobster.

OK, for some reason that picture does not look as good as I know it will be. I will have to get my camera and take some pictures, again, I am still trying to figure out how to use the camera. I know, you have to be smarter than the camera, well I'm not.

I will update you guys on the event, I just hope there will be new material used, I think I have heard every joke he has told, with any luck, there will be some I haven't heard. See ya!!!!! (See Cheryl, I like punctuations)

I think I'm back!!!!

I think I am back in the saddle again. After going through cancer and a stroke, I feel almost like myself again. Life is GOOD!!!!

I have some pictures I would like to share of the family, and of course you know I have to show off my grandchild. To be a grandmother -- there are no words I can think of but JOYFUL. As you can see he has lipstick all over his face, because I WAS KISSING ON HIM!!!!!!

Now for my son the one who just wanted out of High School, went back to college has 1 more year for his bachelors in Criminal Law and he is currently working for Homeland Security. He makes me so proud.

My Maria, the one who moved away from her dear old mother..... SHE IS BACK IN SCHOOL!!!!! The Lord does answer our prayers, doesn't he?

OK Cheryl, Gary and Aunt Clara. I will be back and up dating as often as possible and posting pictures of everyone. Now I just have to figure out how to use my camera?!

Welcome to my home!!!

Since I moved to Oklahoma, it seems hard for my family to see me. I guess because I no longer live in the south or near the east coast (which is the way they travel) I am lost in the prairies of OKLAHOMA. So I am inviting you into my home. Not much, but it's mine, well, in about 20 more years anyway, lol....
Drive on up and park the car and come on in.

Welcome into my living room
Take a seat in the dining room while I make a glass of tea

Or come into the kitchen and sit at the bar while I fix some dinner

Down the hall you will find the bath on your left and a guest room on the left. On the right you will find another guest room and a gun room which will not be shown today. You can understand that, now can't you?

Back to the other side of the house is my room and bath room. I will not show the laundry room, because it has become a tool room with a washing machine, dryer and deep freeze. Still can not figure out how that happened in the last 4 years

Now the only way to enjoy this trip, would be you actually came in and had dinner and a glass of my southern ice tea. Miss you all and hope to see everyone in January. If all goes well, I am going to come down in January to see Carl, Michelle and the girls.

See Gary, I can post!!!!

LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW

I know it has been a while since my last post, but so much has happened and so little time.

I have dial up at home and the only time I have to post is when I am at work. Needless to say, that leaves very little time.

I have posted some pictures of our small blizzard here in Oklahoma.

The pick above is from the ice storm. Yes ladies and gentlemen, that is all ice.

We received about an 1 1/2 of ice before the storm.

I forgot to bring in my flag and the poor thing froze. When I tried to go out and get it, I was slipping all over the place, but will say, I brought her in from the cold.

Then the snow..........

The view from my front porch

My back poarch

My house

My poor bushes

Needless to say, it was 70 degrees that morning, and the temps dropped so quickly it was like Oklahoma was receiving a quick freeze.

I was a lone the first two days, and will say I enjoyed the alone time very much. The last blizzard I was in; 1994, the day DC shut down. I had 6 kids in the house and no coffee and ran out of cigerattes. I was not a HAPPY person.

This time I snuggled up on my couch and enjoyed TV and my babies that don't speak, only snuggle.

By the way Aunt Clara, I took pictures of my house for you to see and I will post them either later today or Monday. I have the Holiday Party tomorrow for work and I am doing the finishing touches.

Love to my family and friends......

Friday, November 17, 2006

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.

Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.

My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.

My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts.
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right, I'm out here by
choice,
I'm here every night."

"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at 'Pearl' on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram' always remembers."

"My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile."

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
"I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home".

"I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother."

"Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."
"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."

"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?"
"It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long."

"For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."
